Nenets - Antler, Bone and Ivory carving

Evgeniy is a Nenets artist from the Yamalo-Nenets region of northwest Siberia. His first experience with wood and bone carving was at a local art studio that his mother enrolled him in at the age of 13. From that point on he adopted a self-guided approach to art that has stuck with him his entire life. He studied as a master artist at Lapzuya, Salekhard’s School for culture and art before doing four years at St. Petersburg university of technology and design. Evgeniy uses media found naturally in his region such as reindeer antler, mammoth tusk, moose antler, larch, birch, and cedar.
