Lena Blair Sanford is White River First Nation from Beaver Creek her clan is Northern Tutchone Crow. Lena has been sewing since she was 9 years old and has had a business since 1995, mostly creating Athabascan Indian dolls and other small crafts. She has passed her knowledge onto University Students at the Tok Alaska University as well as the Tok Elementary and high school.
Lena was inspired by hearing stories about the craft of making dolls from her mother Mary Tom-Tom Blair. She grew up hearing about her grandmother, and great grandmother who made the dolls and she decided to keep the tradition going. Lena does slippers, mitts, hats, coats, dresses and anything else that she can create. Lena recognizes the beauty of the earth and would spend her whole life trying to re-create it if she could.
