Taku Kwaan (People of the Taku) is a traditional dance group of the Taku River Tlingit First Nation. The group is based in the remote north-western British Columbia community of Atlin, 80 km north of the First Nation’s ancestral heartland on the Taku River, which flows into the Pacific Ocean near Juneau. Taku Kwaan gave it’s first public performance in 2006 and has been performing regularly at other celebrations, festivals and ceremonies. They have performed since 2006 at the popular Atlin Art and Music Festival and at the 2007 Canada Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon. They look foward to sharing their Tlingit community, identity and culture at the Adaka Cultural Festival.
