Traditional Medicine

My name is Amy Genier, I am Southern Tutchone from Ta’an Kwach’an. I belong to the Wolf clan and is a proud member of the Jenny Laberge family, my ancestral ties are to Fanny Jim and Jimmy Smith. I passionately create unique art pieces showcasing treasures found within traditional territories of the Yukon’s Boreal Forest. My primary focus (aka passion) is being a traditional and modern plant knowledge facilitator. For the past 20 years, I have been dedicated with a deep-rooted commitment to understanding, preserving, promoting, and celebrating the profound connection between humans and the land thru traditional and modern plant knowledge. By reconnecting with nature and fostering sustainable relationships with the land, I strive to assist in the revitalization of this traditional knowledge by facilitating the flow of knowledge amongst the generations. Ensuring that this invaluable knowledge is not lost but shared, celebrated, and respected. Traditional plant knowledge is rapidly disappearing- I recognize the importance of reconnecting with the land and fostering a sustainable and equitable relationship. I create safe spaces for sharing, embracing, and revitalizing this traditional wisdom and knowledge in a good way. my goal is to create opportunities for intergenerational learning that fosters cultural connection while contributing to the preservation and revitalization of traditional knowledge for future generations.
