Leisa Gattie-Thurmer is a third generation Yukoner from the Anishnabe-kwe First Nation. She explores art through a variety of mediums, including painting, writing and photography, but her medium of choice continues to be textile arts including garment design and construction. Leisa attended the Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design in Vancouver, B.C. and has also gone on to obtain her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Regina via the Yukon Native Teacher Education Program, YNTEP. She has worked in knitwear design, freelance pattern drafting work and custom sewing. She has also created garments for theatre, movies and television commercials as well as balls, weddings and First Nations graduation ceremonies!
