Leisa Gattie-Thurmer is a third generation Yukoner who explores art through a variety of mediums, including painting, writing and photography, but her medium of choice continues to be textile arts and garment design and construction. Leisa attended the Helen Lefeaux School of Fashion Design in Vancouver, B.C. and has worked in knitwear design, freelance pattern drafting work and custom sewing. She has created garments for theatre, movies and television commercials as well as balls, weddings and First Nations graduation ceremonies. Leisa studied fashion design in Vancouver B.C. and obtained her Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Regina via the Yukon Native Teacher Education Program, YNTEP.
Leisa has been sharing her knowledge with others for over thirty years.
