Lorraine Netro was born and raised in Old Crow, Yukon.  She is a member of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation.  Over the years she has served her community in a leadership role, served as the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation representative on a number of National and International Boards and Committees, advocating to have impact and effect in public policy and First Nation governance, participating in International initiatives representing her people, Aboriginal Women’s Issues and Northern Environmental issues.

She continues to volunteer as one of the Board of Directors of Gwitchin Steering Committee and is a long time advocate for the Protection of the Calving Grounds of the Porcupine Caribou Herd and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for all future generations.
