Joelle Charlie (she/they) is an Indigenous, Métis, and Irish Artist who was born and raised in Inuvik, Northwest Territories. Her traditional name that was gifted to her my her Jijuu is Zheetìi, which means sky in Gwich’in. She is a member of the Vuntut Gwitch’in and Liard First Nations. She is passionate about Indigenous rights, building community, and food sovereignty. She is a Gwich’in language teacher and believes that language work is healing. Joelle is an Artist of various mediums and which include beadwork, poetry, quillwork, tufting, and painting. She currently lives in the Yukon with her family.
