Hiring: Short Term Staffing Positions

The Adäka Cultural Festival has the following contract and short-term positions available that are great for youth and individuals with a passion for arts and culture. The Festival will be held from June 28 to July 4, 2019 at the beautiful Kwanlin Dün Cultural Centre. There will be more than 150 performing and visual artists from across the Yukon, as well as national and international guest artists, who will gather to showcase their arts and culture with local, national and international audiences.
1. CHILDREN’S PROGRAM COORDINATOR (6 days, plus 8 days prep)
Working with the Festival team, plan and deliver a variety of children’s art and cultural programming during the Festival. Programming runs from June 29 – July 4th from 11am – 4pm.
2. STAGE MANAGER (9 days)
Working under the direction of the Festival Producer, and in support of the Sound and Tech team, the Stage Manager will oversee back stage production during all performances.
3. WORKSHOP ASSISTANT (8 days)
Working under the direction of Workshop Coordinator, the Assistant will help plan, set-up and prepare for the visual arts and traditional craft workshops and provide support to the instructors throughout their workshop.
4. LOGISTICS COORDINATOR (10 days)
The Logistics Coordinator will oversee the set up and strike of the festival site, the delivery and management of supplies and, provide technical and program support to the full team throughout the event. Valid Driver’s license required
5. HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR (8 days)
The Hospitality Coordinator will oversee the set up and management of the Festival hospitality areas and events that require food and beverage support including the community feast, the artist reception and barbeque and off site rehearsals. Valid Driver’s license required
6. CULTURAL PROGRAM ASSISTANT (8 days)
The Cultural Program Assistant will oversee the set-up, delivery and strike of the cultural programs and traditional knowledge presentations throughout the Festival.
7. ADAKA GIFT STORE MANAGER (10 days)
Working with a team of Volunteers, the Gift Store Manager will oversee and manage the setup, display, and sales of Festival merchandise, and manage event ticket sales and workshop registration. Experience with on line ticket sales and cash registers as asset.
8. GALLERY ASSISTANT (10 days)
The Gallery Exhibit Assistant will assist with the inventory, installation and promotion of the art and craft in the Festival gallery. Previous experience working with First Nations art and traditional craft an asset.
9. ARTIST STUDIO HOST (7 days)
The Artist Studio Tent host provides support and hospitality to artists working in the shared tents, and meets and greets visitors to the tent throughout the day.
10. ELDER’S TENT HOST (6 days, plus 3 prep days)
The Elder’s tent host will create a welcoming environment in the Elders wall tent and campfire area, and provide hospitality to elders throughout the day including making and serving tea and bannock, sharing program information and visiting.
RATE OF PAY: $25 - $30 per hour depending on position and experience.
