Alyssa was born and raised in Hinton, Alberta. She grew up watching her mother sew and create and had ample opportunities while growing up to learn and appreciate different forms of art. She took sewing lessons as a young child and into her teens. Her favourite pastime is going on walks with her camera slung over her shoulder, looking for wildflowers and mushrooms to photograph, often using these as reference photos for her art. In 2015 she travelled to Whitehorse for the Adaka Cultural Festival where she took part in various workshops including fish scale art, cedar hat weaving, and porcupine quillwork. She has advanced her knowledge in working with quills and birch bark and creates beautiful earrings.
