Caribou antler art/jewelry and beadwork

Drin gwiinzii, Copper Caribou is owned and operated by Montana Prysnuk and Delaney Prysnuk. From the Yukon Territory, the sisters are members of the Vuntut Gwitchin First Nation with ties to Inuvialuit, as well as Ukrainian/Scandinavian heritage. They create jewellery and art pieces, combining traditional practices with a modern flare. Vadziah ch’ijì (caribou antler) and beadwork on hometan hide are main components of their art. Adhòh tr’ahshii (hide tanning) and working with youth have become a large part of Copper Caribou, and Montana and Delaney aim to encourage positive mental health practices through hide tanning and traditional ways of knowing and doing. They honour their culture and Indigenous knowledge through beadwork, artwork, hide work and language. Màhsi’ choo, gwiinzii ts’aii ndoò ohdàh (Thank you, go forward in a good way).
