Earl Darbyshire, a Southern Tutchone, language warrior, knowledge keeper and storyteller. Was raised here in Whitehorse, on the banks of the Yukon River. He comes home. Earl’s grandparents eked out a life on the land. Raising their children in a traditional and culturally rich environment. Earl’s grandfather Parton Kane, was a master storyteller. Earl honed many of his talents and stories from him and his family. Storytelling is enriched in Earl’s blood line. His grandmother, Lily, a Tagish Kwan, originally from McClintock Bay was related to many famous story tellers. Her Aunt and Uncle Rachel and George Dawson, Angela Sydney and her brother Johnny Johns and many others. Earl also crafted his skills and knowledge during his time as a broadcaster/reporter. Talking and interviewing elders from every community in the Yukon. Earl has come to learn many stories from many cultures and keeps them for sharing. Through his stories, music and laughter, Earl will amuse you and engage you, as you listen, laugh and learn his language and culture through songs and stories.
