Julie Grenier is from Kuujjuaq, a small community in Nunavik, Northern Québec. She currently resides in Notre-Dame-de-l’ile-Perrot, a small community west of Montreal, with her husband and three children. Having an Inuk mother and Francophone father, she was raised with both sets of values from those cultures.
Julie is currently working as the Director General for Taqramiut Nipingat Incorporated (TNI), a regional radio and television production company that serves the Inuit of Nunavik Northern-Quebec and broadcasts 100% in the Inuktitut language.  She has held different positions at TNI before taking on the director general position and she directed many documentaries and series aired on APTN on Nunavik’s community television network (NCTv) including a feature about Sheila Watt-Cloutier.
In 2021, Julie was appointed to the Inuit Art Foundation Board of Directors, where she is the Secretary Treasurer. 
Beyond her contributions to Boards, she has been beading and sewing since the age of eight, and has taught art to community members.  Julie was recently one of 10 canadian indigenous designers selected to take part in an indigenous haute couture fashion residency at the Banff center for creative arts, under the tutelage of D’Arcy Moses. She also recently collaborated on the design and beading of the outfit worn by Canada’s governor general.  One of Julie’s collaborative work is on permanent display at the museum or Man in Paris, another one was on display at the Winnipeg art gallery. Julie was recently invited as a guest artist at the Arctic Rose Foundation, she has been recognized by the Inuit Art Foundation, by the Nunavik Arts Secretariat, by the Avataq cultural institute and by Kativik Ilisarnilirijiit for her work.
Julie has also been published in various publications, including Fashion Canada, Nunatsiaq News, IAQ, Makivik Magazine and more.
Realizations:
- Julie presented a couture collection at the crafted Winnipeg fashion show in Winnipeg, October 31 2023
- Julie has been teaching beading and more specifically beaded earring and caribou tufting workshops at venues such as Adäka Cultural Festival 2022, Inuit Studies conference 2022, for the Kativik Ilisarnilirijiit in Nunavik 2022 and ongoing, for the Southern Quebec Inuit Association retreat 2023 and the Saturviit Inuit Womens Association 2023.
