In 1973 Angela Sidney and Clara Schinkel started our group, to bridge the gap in education and culture within the Carcross Elementary School. Back then we were known as the ‘Carcross Dancers.’ Our group has five generations of Tagish Dene and Tlingit Kwaan, people. Most citizens of the Carcross/Tagish First Nation have danced with us at one time or another. Not to say though we turned anyone away who wanted to sing, dance, and drum in our traditional ways or from any First Nation heritage. Once a Tagish Nation Dancer, always a Tagish Nation Dancer and we treasure each and every one of our dancers!
