Short Term Positions/Contracts Available

BACKGROUND

The Yukon First Nations Culture and Tourism Association (YFNCT) will be hosting Adäka Cultural Festival from June 29 to July 5, 2023 at the Kwanlin Dun Cultural Centre in Whitehorse. The 2023 Festival will welcome over 75 artists and performers from all Yukon Communities. Programming will include main stage performances, cultural presentations, workshops, visual art demonstrations, film screenings and a beautiful retail gallery featuring artwork from across the Yukon.

TERM POSITIONS / CONTRACTS AVAILABLE

 

VISUAL ARTS COORDINATOR (April 15 – July 15)

The Visual Arts Coordinator leads the planning and delivery of the visual arts program for the 2023 Adäka Cultural Festival, coordinating over 60 artists showcasing their work in the visual artist tent, in the retail gallery and gift shop. The Visual Arts Coordinator works closely with the workshop coordinator and gallery curator.

Contract details: 3 months @ $28.50-$35 per hour, depending on experience

 

WORKSHOP COORDINATOR (April 15 – July 15)

The Workshop Coordinator will be responsible for the final preparation and delivery of 50+ artistic workshops during the 7-day Festival. This includes programming and scheduling, coordinating and providing support to workshop facilitators, material preparation, workshop set up and clean up, and distributing/collecting evaluation forms.

Contract details: 3 months @ $28.50-$35 per hour, depending on experience

 

GALLERY CURATOR (150 hour contract)

This position works with the Visual Arts Coordinator to prepare for and install a retail gallery as part of the Adaka Festival. The gallery will be held in the KDCC Multi-Purpose Room and will include artwork and jewellery created by Yukon and visiting artists.

Contract details: 150 hour contract / $5,250.00

 

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR (6 week position)

The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for implementation and management of the Volunteer programs for the Festival. This includes volunteer scheduling, supervision and appreciation. Valid drivers license required.

Position details: 6 weeks @ $28.50 per hour

 

ASSISTANT STAGE MANAGER (70 hours)

The Assistant Stage Manager works closely with sound technicians and supports the running of all festival performances, assists in supervising all technical requirements - blocking, lighting cues, and entrances of all the performers. Previous Assistant Stage Management experience is required.

Contract details: 70 hours @ $28.50 per hour

 

LOGISTICS / HOSPITALITY COORDINATOR (2-week position)

The Logistics / Hospitality Coordinator will oversee the set up and strike of the festival site, the delivery and management of supplies and, provide technical and program support to the full team throughout the event. Valid driver’s license required.

Position details: 5 weeks / 40 hours @ $28.50 per hour
